…and then I got the full Whu Thee Album on vinyl for about £11 new.
And then the HMV import cd.
That song cost me £40 in total. Damn.
And then I also bought all the others, went to see method man live.
20 Shot costing £25 turned out to be quite the money pit, eh?
Nah, forgiven. About 20-25 years I was sat there with a mate of mine smoking and listening to various Def Jux stuff and we both laughed agreeing that El P can be hard work.
I bought a Cannibal Ox album years ago and listened to it a fair bit but in the end i had to accept I wasnt enjoying it. Now I have Spotify and access to all the music in the world I haven’t thought about or searched for Cannibal Ox once and it’s only talking to you now that reminded me of it!
This has just reminded me that I’m pretty sure I saw Cannibal Ox play, back in about 2005/2006. They played at a pub in Lancaster and the first 5 mins of the set was just white noise and feedback while the DJ rebooted his laptop.
Lancaster has, and had, quite an active music scene, but I still have no idea why they would have been booked to play a gig to 100 people in the north of England.
Got to thank 411 for introducing me to Gangstarr. Koston best of profile . And then loads more throughout the early 411 videos.
As said already, 411 is responsible for shaping so many of skaters music tastes .
so sick .
The Cold Vein? Its a great album but if you’re not feeling El P production nothing is going to save it haha. Pigeon is so good. Came out during my brief ecstasy phase…
You know what? I think Sam Ashley pointed him out to me.
Turns out I have thought of that name very recently then. But I’m too old to remember new memories now.
