Back in the UK now and currently on holiday in the Cotswolds with my wife.

We’re doing a day out in Bristol tomorrow and I’d like to skate Dean Street, Victoria Park and after looking at Google some DIYs caller Curbside and Daveside?

Just wanted to check on here if A. they’re still there and B. they aren’t in a horrific dodgy area.
In Bristol that my wife wouldn’t be overly bored at.
Also any other recommendations. Cheers

Sorry new phone and it doesn’t seem to like the forum on my browser, I can’t see what I’m typing after a few lines

They’re all fairly close to each other, in safe areas and you could probably hit them all in the same day.
Details here are general as I left there 7 years ago now.

No idea if you’re walking, cycling or driving.
On a touristy level, the Suspension Bridge is always worth a look, along with exploring Clifton Downs. If the weather’s good, get a picnic from Tesco in Clifton Village and go up the observatory and sit out for a while.

Daveside is on a bike lane near Ashton Court and the suspension bridge. There’s a cool pump track around the corner in Greville Smyth Park worth blazing about. Ashton Court is an old stately home and parkland and is free to enter - you can get there via Daveside or via the suspension bridge. There was a large festival there over the weekend, so I’ve no idea how “open” it is.
Curbside is about 500m from here, on the bike/bus lane under Brunel Way.
Close to here you’ll find North Street, near Ashton Gate Stadium - Dean Lane skatepark and Gratitude skateshop are the opposite end, but there’s some cool small shops, cafes, bars, etc. on the way which would be good for a visit. This area is Bedminster and it’s a colourful place, so keep your wits about you. Nothing major to worry about, its not Mogadishu.
Victoria Park is on the far side of Bedmo to here, but that’s not far, 20 mins on foot probably. You might find a visit to Windmill Hill City Farm worthwhile on the way to the skatepark. The park area itself is nice enough from what I recall, but unless you’re

That’s about a 7km trip by foot / board / bike. Then head back into town/harbourside and if the weather’s sunny, finish up with beers sitting out by the Arnolfini opposite Lloyds, or catch some sundowner beers and maybe a balloon launch at The Cottage near the Hotwells end of the Floating Harbour. Don’t eat there though, the food is crap. The Pumphouse opposite from it is pretty good.

Hope that helps. Some of the locals there would be able to point you in the right direction for pubs, bars, etc., but that’s a pretty decent day trip to skatespots which I’m absolutely sure your good lady will really appreciate.

Appreciate the lengthy response. Will put it forward to the wife. I think I’ve got lucky with the weather too fingers crossed

I’ve made it up to the Scottish Borders now where I will be living indefinitely- about 15 minutes drive from Galashiels. I’ll be spending quite a bit of time skating around Edinburgh I imagine. Anyone with local knowledge able to give me a rough rundown of which areas are nice and which ones are a bit dodgy? I’ll be going to every skatepark I can find regardless but it’s nice to know what I’m in for.

I guess so, thanks.

Sorry if this is too late - it’s on a little side street off Digbeth High Street (the main road they are doing loads of work on) pretty much opposite the entrance to Custard Factory where Ideal is.

Bordeaux seems like a great place to skate but isn’t the scene something weird now where there are designated areas to skate and everywhere else is strictly off limits, so in other words no jazzy cruising to hit random spots…?

I’ve not seen friend who sent that clip since he got back but will ask

Seems to be a lot of jazzy cruising on here but also ‘approved’ spots too - in answer, not sure!

I can get info about that if you want gents.

Spent 2 days doing bits of the Scottish North coast 500 in the MR2 . My god , absolutely blown away . Was in constant awe and bloody got me emotional of how incredible it was . Astounding
I cannot recommend it enough, photos don’t do it justice what so ever.
Literally had to stop constantly to take it all in. I thought Norway was incredible.

Mon the Scotland .
Can’t believe I’ve not done it in all this time .
