Cheers, found it - will watch tonight!
Funnily enough just watched this:
I haven’t been for ages but the skatepark, Riot shop, and the pub are basically all next to each other. So you can get some tips from locals there. Locals were all sound when I was there.
Biarritz definitely doable too. Arcachon is close if you don’t have loads of time but you could get to Hossegor and more of the bigger surf areas if you’re into that sort of thing.
If you can get there, St Emilion is sick too. Beautiful old town and has about 80 wine shops and bars, funnily enough.
Going to Jersey City/NYC end of September for the wedding of a mate who skates.
Staying there for 8 nights.
Any suggestions for skate and non skate/touristy/ whatever stuff to see and do and experience would be greatly appreciated
Never been before - solo trip Wife and children free.
Alright, I’ve been to NYC 4 times but it’s been a while…
Skate tourism is pretty easy (as long as we’re talking about looking at famous spots), a lot of spots are in Manhattan. Make sure you go to the Courthouse. Blubba and other spots you’ve seen in many vids are really close too.
Skate Tompkins Square and the LES park.
I’m not really up to date when it comes to shops, KCDC was awesome, I’d say go to Labor if you want to buy a board or something.
New York has really good art museums. Just Google them if that’s your thing and see where you feel like going, you won’t be disappointed.
There are tons of great American restaurants there but also other places that will offer exotic food you won’t find easily, even in London. Try something exciting! Burmese cuisine is dope.
Philly is close, a day trip down there could be fun.
Get one of those I
NY tees. You’ll feel silly buying it but you’ll be totally hyped on it chilling in your garden months later.
Trying to come up with some sort of plan for a summer trip and thinking of skate destinations. Has anyone skated Amsterdam recently? I was looking earlier, and the city now has a bunch of very sick-looking parks. I might try and combine it with some other cities. Hamburg? Even Copenhagen (although I’ve been there a lot).
My friend also suggested Warsaw. Anyone been recently? Berlin to Warsaw could be fun.
Anyone got any decent skate trips lined up? I’m keen to hear potential destination suggestions.
I just booked my flights for a week in Valencia in October with a bunch if anyone has any suggestions.
Went to Sofia last year and it has loads of spots but it was 40 degrees every day and we spent most of our time getting drunk by the pool.
Including cheap, big flagons of Bulgarian beer that went warm in 10.5 seconds.
The flagons were a definite low point but that friendly barman who let us take over his pub for the night made up for it. Tops off behind the bar smoking fags and pouring your own drinks ![]()
This is the most British thing I’ve read on here in weeks.
Went to Amsterdam with my ex 2 or 3 years ago and to Warsaw with my mum and my sis 5ish years ago, didn’t bring my board but loved both cities. Dope food, good beers, interesting architecture, great museums, just nice places where you’re gonna have a good time.
Stockholm and Malmö are lovely. I don’t know Helsinki very well but it seems pretty damn cool during summer too. I bet Hamburg is incredible.
Bordeaux? Milan? Marseille? Paris? Lyon?
This thread over at Slap mentions Cologne, Stuttgart, Frankfurt and Hanover as great destinations. Germany is great.
Par the police sit at the end of the night well aye, good craic that was.
I did Berlin - Leipzig - Prague - Berlin via a combo of trains and flixbus in 2017 and it was absolutely class
I went on a solo trip a couple of years ago, here’s some ideas based on my Google maps saves.
Chelsea/West Village: The High Line/Whitney Museum of Art/Chelsea Market (get there early for Los Tacos)/Little Island/Get a couple of slices from Bleeker Street pizza to go and walk around the neighbourhood/Film Forum for a late film
Tribeca: Ghostbusters building/911 memorial
Lower east side: International centre for photography/Essex Market for food/Tompkins bagels + Tomkins square for vibes/Chinatown/Town Hall/LES skatepark
Midtown: MoMA/Empire State/Sandwich from Whole Foods and chill in Central park
Upper East side: Cooper Hewitt design museum/ Guggenheim/The Met
The Brooklyn Banks have been further reopened:

Has anyone used an eSIM ? Is it worth getting one for New York for Google maps, bit of browsing and WhatsApp for contacting people there and obviously the forum ? Or is the coverage shit ? Any recommendations would be great. Thanks.
Using one right now, T-Mobile for Nevada and California.
Half the price than letting Vodafone do a shit job and stitch me up.
I used this app called Saily for eSIM mobile data recently. Worked pretty well and there’s discount codes all over the web.
Yeah was looking at them seemed decent from what I could tell for a 10 day plan or something. They all seem to throttle “ unlimited “ data plans when you reach a certain level but don’t think I would use enough to worry about that it also works out about less than half O2 would want to charge me for a bolt on.
