I started on that new Marvel series, Echo, and gave up after 1 1/2 episodes. It felt like the sort of thing you used to get on channel 5 in the late 90s. I had no idea what was going on, it felt like there were scenes missing and the action sequences were rubbish. I’ve no idea what’s going on, they’re just churning shit out for the sake of it these days
People had been comparing it to the (actually very good) Daredevil and Punisher series’, but it’s nowhere close. Iron Fist was better than this…
Unfortunately the content put out since Disney bought marvel and Lucas film , has been dire and the fans have shown this by not getting out their cash for the cinemas or cutting their streaming services.
And it’s having a knock on effect in the industry, Disney having to make $7.5b saving over the last year because of terrible box office sales .
You’d think this would change Disneys approach to content but unfortunately there’s just going to be more dire content with weak storylines and characters.
Star Wars was supposed to be in production early this year and my boss got the prop making Dept but the canned it completely till further notice. Apparently it’s constantly being re written and still way off what Disney want .
Fantastic four should have started before Xmas ( my boss has that too) but put out on hold till march now. Not sure why that was .
There’s very little in production at the UK studios right now and it’s not good , seems the studios are having a real look at their content and budgets because they keep under performing .
Their cash/legacy cows seem to be running dry and they can’t seem to let them go and rethink fresh interesting content .
So it’s gonna be like this for a while unless there’s a good shake up at the top for the studios
Gf had never seen the Sopranos so bought series one off ebay for about £2. Really is ace, and funny. Christopher shoots some guy in the foot, leaves with “It happens” (nice Goodfellas nod)
I’m out tonight so won’t get to watch the final until I get back in. Hoping for a Harry win as he’s played the game so well up to this point. Bit worried about Jaz though as he’s acting like he’s got some secret info to drop….
I remember stumbling across this when it first aired on Channel 4 one evening and being so confused, but laughing my head off. Had to check the paper to see what the show was called.
The Bear is so good. I was worried s2 wouldn’t live up to the hype but it’s even better. My only criticism is that 6 episodes didn’t feel enough to really flesh out some of the characters stories, like his girlfriend. But that’s just me being selfish as I really enjoyed it.
Something else that is worth watching on Disney plus is The Dropout (which also features the guy who plays Richard in The Bear) - a mad true story about Elizabeth Holmes who was at one point the youngest ever female billionaire, but was basically just a huge scam.
