I think Izzy is too clever for him, in a fight context. He has an excellent sense of his own abilities and how to prioritise his actions to maximise their effectiveness. Firas Zahabi often refers to a ā60-second guardā, and Izzy is amazing at it for someone whoās primarily a striker. Watch him when he gets taken down, because itās constant aggression and sub attempts for 25-30 seconds, then itās all about getting back to the feet as quickly and safely as possible, and itās all said and done within that minute. If itās not heās in trouble, but if Gastelum couldnāt hold him down then Costa is going to struggle. Size and strength will only get you so far when someone as technical, fast and elusive as Adesanya is interrupting your vision, rhythm and breathing with his jab.
Problem is with Costa, In the Romeo fight he was doing exactly what RW was doing and lunging big hands forward.

was a bit surprised whittaker was as one dimensional as he was, and the fact that her kept blitzing in with the same attack leaving himself open in the same way every time. stylbender is great at reading what people do and adapting, in fact he was baiting whittaker in with a bit of foot movement, the whittaker would attack so he knew when the attacks were coming, giving him a massive advantage baiting him in every time.

Iām going to go ahead and state that MMA media is pure trash at actual journalism and Joannaās weight cut was no worse than usual (which isnāt great tbf, sheās big for the weight class). What made the story was someone remembering it was her first weight cut to 115 since she got her new norks fitted and conjured the story up from there.

In a pure āsportingā sense, I wanted Askren to win because overall itās better for the future of the weight class, especially with the amount of high pressure, high cardio wrestlers at the top of the weight class. Maia winning doesnāt move anything along, as heās past being able to make a push at the title. I love watching him grapple though, so smooth.
I do like Askrenās personality as well though. Doesnāt take himself too seriously and is always humble in defeat. A bit childish but was less obnoxious than a lot of them in that weight class.
