Anyone been playing SkaterXL since it’s console release?
Not console but played the full version on PC a bit. It’s pretty fun and landing a technical tricks clean feels rather rewarding, and it plays alot less floaty than the videos advertising it show. But it’s still pretty janky, and runs a bit odd in places like the create a skater screen that seems to lag out everytime you change your shoes. All in all its fun though if a bit rough around the edges. probably come down in price soon enough as £35 for the console version seems a bit steep to me, think I paid £15 for the beta on steam.
Not sure how mnay of you are familiar with this guy but if you want some incredible video game analysis check this channel out. He is a genius
This one sums up pretty well quite a lot of the reasons I think Last of Us sucks
Why do you not like it? Did you play the second one?
This is a pretty good analysis, and all of his points on how to improve it are well made.
A lot of his notes on how to improve the game are actually implemented in the second one.
I just finished playing pt 2 for the second time, and I realised that Ellie doesn’t actually learn the underlying reason behind the things that are happening to her.
I’ve not but to put it briefly I thought first one had muddled gameplay and didn’t know what sort of game it wanted to be. Also became very repetitive; story, graphics, world building etc. were great just wasn’t a good game to actually play.
Though as stated above seems like they’ve fixed some of this in the next game, in fact for anyone interested he just came out with a similar review for 2 if anyones interested, hard for me to agree/disagree since I havent played:
You should have played it and experienced it for yourself instead of watching that review which goes through every detail of the game!
Haha realistically I was never going to play it, don’t own a PS4 and if I did there are a ton of games I’d sooner play
Probably digging up old ground here. But I’m been giving SkaterXL a go this afternoon. Bloody hell its hard to get used to. Borderline unenjoyable. It’s so well thought out but part of me thinks it may be a bit too well thought out. EA skate seemed to have it just right for me.
I’ve watched people playing it on YouTube. It just looks incredibly dull and empty.
The ea skate maps were huge and packed full of great spots. From what I’ve seen the skater xl maps look too real and are not actually good to session.
Dunno. I really want to try it to see how the controls work but it doesn’t look like a full game yet and I’m not itching to play it.
The new/old THPS demo is out at the moment.
Looks like an absolute pisstake to charge £40+ for it. I’ll wait until its £9.99 in a few months/years time. I can wait.
Absolutely loving the new Microsoft Flight Simulator, it’s got the whole world in there and it looks amazing. Just been pottering around the Outer Hebrides, Norway and then set off from near home for a trip around the Lakes and back. Well worth a look if you have a decent computer, it’s on Game Pass too so nothing if you already have that and only a quid for the first month if you don’t. Perfect relaxation.

Haven’t played Flight Simulator Since Windows 95.
Considering a gaming laptop just for flight sim.
Have sunk many hours into older MS Flightsims. The new one looks lovely but a capable PC is out of the question at the moment.
Skater XL looks really floaty and weird, although I’m told the trailers make it look worse than it actually is. I assume it’s destined for gamepass so I’ll wait.
Back to the endless and knowingly pointless Destiny grind…
X plane demo is good for testing out if you like that sort of thing and works on a mac. Good for some work avoidance.
I got a Switch, really enjoying it.
Whats the hype on Flight Sim then @hugo?
Was the game I loved most as a child. I was obsessed with aviation and wanted to be a pilot.
If I had the money it’s the one career move i’d make.
Just picked up Skate 3 for a fiver. It better be as good as you lot keep saying it is.
